For every 1 kg heavier average live weight at mating we can expect an additional 2.5 to 3.0% in scanning percentage.
Matt Holden has the firm view that ewe live weight needs to be monitored at weaning in order to achieve target mating live weights, and that ewes should be weaning within 2 to 4 kg of the desired mating weight.
